Show Notes

How did organized sport start developing in Trois Rivières?  That’s the subject of this episode. Hosts Julie Miller and François Roy cover a lot of bases –they'll talk about baseball,   horse racing, canoeing, snowshoeing, skating, tennis, and so much more.  There was even a cricket club once upon a time in TR! And as François likes to point out, you could even say politics was a sport, yes it was…and politics could divide people to such an extent that it could affect the way sports clubs in the 1800s and into the 1900s were set up.  This episode contains one of Julie's favourite anecdotes of the entire series. Oh, and did you know that Three Rivers used to have a farm club for the Brooklyn Dodgers and other pro baseball teams too?  And do you know about the role Three Rivers High School played in encouraging the development of sports locally?  This episode explores these topics, and more.
